About Me...

Read my stories on LinkedIn . I tell too much.

Since grad1986, I’ve worked in finance. Starting as an institutional broker, I quickly advanced to portfolio manager for millions of credit union and community bank investments. At the same time, I earned my full-time MBA from Vanderbilt and my CFA.  By 1993, I launched my own institutional firm. A highlight was serving as lead investment banker on the successful $1 billion sale of Pioneer Bancshares, alongside Solomon Smith Barney.

In 1999, I began accepting individuals and families as clients. Both require different needs than institutional clients. Preserving capital often takes precedence over risk. I preserved client wealth during the dotcom bubble and the Great Financial Crisis.  This success led to consulting engagements with multimillion-dollar family offices and to exceptional returns. My investment contacts now extend to the leading hedge funds worldwide.

A younger me with Warren Buffett after signing my book. I created a class on securities valuation at Vanderbilt's Owen School of Business. Our professor was Vanderbilt's Treasurer, Bill Spitz, a mentor and legend.  He invited me two years after graduation to meet the legend. I think I improved the business school.
